The Ca' Nova

Ca' Nova is a small, family-run winery founded in a 19th-century farmhouse in the center of the village of Barbaresco. The Rocca family began labeling wines in the 1970s. The vineyards extend over an area of about 14 hectares, including parcels in the Barbaresco crus of Montestefano and Montefico (the latter more precisely within the Bric Mentina vineyard). The former is south-facing and produces slightly more powerful and deeper wines than those from the southeast-facing vineyards of Montefico, which yield more elegant wines. Winemaking
proceeds without temperature control during fermentation, after which the "steccatura" technique is used, keeping the skins submerged for 15-20 days after alcoholic fermentation for greater extraction. The wines are then aged for at least 18 months in 3000-liter barrels.
