Lava Winery

Bodega Lava: Gran Canaria, the Martín Monzón siblings and the volcanic viticulture of the Canary Islands

Bodega Lava operates in Santa Brígida, in the north of Gran Canaria, within a viticulture characterized by altitude, wind, volcanic soils, and local grape varieties. The project is led by Mari Carmen, Guillermo, and Juan Manuel Martín Monzón, three siblings who have transformed a family's agricultural history into a small winery capable of showcasing the island's most authentic face.

The vineyards are located in a cool, mountainous Canarian landscape, with high-altitude plots such as Pinosanto and Lomo de los Ingleses. Bodega Lava wines do not reflect the more predictable Mediterranean Spain but instead possess a different character: oceanic, mineral, vertical, born from the black volcanic soil and a direct relationship with the island.
