Contrada Contro: Andrea Polidoro, the Sibillini Mountains, and the revival of old Marche vineyards

Contrada Contro was born in the Sibillini Mountains from the work of Andrea Polidoro, who, after experiences in Bordeaux and Montalcino, returned to the Marche region to restore old vineyards, mixed fields, and local varieties. It is a project deeply connected to the land: not the more accessible and coastal Marche, but an inland, elevated, agricultural territory that is still largely untold.

The vines are often old, in some cases linked to the tradition of "married vines," and grow on soils rich in limestone, sand, and silt. In Contrada Contro wines, there is a pursuit of tension, verticality, and a territorial voice: spontaneous fermentations, minimal intervention, and the desire to breathe new life into places that risked being forgotten.
