"Vispavola" Red Wine 2022

Vispavola is a red wine produced by Colombera & Garella through the vinification of one of Alto Piemonte's native grape varieties: Vespolina.

Vispavola is a wine I could describe as an everyday wine, but not one lacking in character. Primarily focused on drinkability, it expresses all the typical spicy identity of the grape variety both on the nose and in the mouth.

The winery: Colombera & Garella

The winery's history began in 1992 in Masserano with the purchase of Cascina Cottignano, an old ruin to be restored surrounded by vineyards. In those years, Carlo Colombera left his job in the rice fields and, thanks to employment at Azienda Agricola Antoniolo in Gattinara, began to develop a passion for viticulture. Over time, investments were made, increasing the vineyard area owned by the company. Today, the frontman of the winery is Giacomo Colombera, born in 1992, who met Cristiano Garella, an oenologist, during his enology university studies in Alba. Together, they decided to formally establish the Colombera & Garella company in 2010. Currently, the winery boasts approximately 10 hectares of vineyards, spread across the municipalities of Lessona, Masserano, and Roasio. The cultivated varieties are the historic ones of Alto Piemonte, with Nebbiolo taking center stage, alongside Vespolina and Croatina, thus giving life to the production of two of the most important DOCs of Alto Piemonte: Lessona and Bramaterra.
