FuoriZona is a red wine produced by Giacomo and Francesco Vaira with Nebbiolo grapes in the municipality of Vergne.
FZ 22 comes from the San Ponzio vineyard, a small plot in the municipality of Vergne at an altitude of about 380 meters with a west exposure. The vines root themselves in a soil of calcareous-clayey matrix typical of the Marna di Sant'Agata, alongside a good percentage of silt which gives a particular balsamic quality to the wine. Giacomo and Francesco's idea is to vinify this small plot individually to enhance and showcase this portion of the hillside, which has never been truly valued due to a line defining a political border only a few meters away from that unnamed and renowned Denomination.

The story of Giacomo and Francesco Vaira begins in 2009, when they inherited a 0.3-hectare vineyard from their father. For many years, running this vineyard was a kind of second job, alongside their work at renowned wineries in the area, always in the wine/vineyard sector, of course. After gaining some experience, in 2019, their shared passion led them to start a small production, and they released their first label, Controcorrente, made with the rosé clone of Nebbiolo, followed by Fuorizona and Barolo (due to be released in 2024).
