FuoriZona is a red wine produced by Giacomo and Francesco Vaira with Nebbiolo grapes in the municipality of Vergne.
FZ 22 comes from the San Ponzio vineyard, a small plot in the municipality of Vergne at about 380 meters above sea level with a western exposure. The vines root themselves in a soil of calcareous-clay matrix, typical of the Sant'Agata Marl, alongside a good percentage of silt that gives the wine a particular balsamic quality. Giacomo and Francesco's idea is to vinify this small parcel individually in order to enhance and make known this portion of the hill, which has never been truly valued due to a line that defines a political boundary only a few meters from that unmentionable and renowned Denomination.

The story of Giacomo and Francesco Vaira begins in 2009, when they inherited a 0.3-hectare vineyard from their father. For many years, managing this vineyard was a kind of second job, alongside their work in renowned wineries in the area, always in the wine/vineyard sector, of course. After gaining some experience, in 2019, their shared passion led them to start a small production, and they released their first label, Controcorrente, made with the rosé clone of Nebbiolo, followed by Fuorizona and the Barolos (to be released in 2024).
