“Bianco di Mitja” 2024 by Mitja Sirk is a European White Wine made from Friulano grapes, born between Cormòns, Collio, and the Slovenian border.
Mitja Sirk brings a story of Collio, family, and hospitality to his wine. Growing up in the world of La Subida, in Cormòns, he chose to dedicate his project to Friulano, a grape variety deeply connected to these border hills, where Italy meets Slovenia and the 'ponca' soil defines the character of the wines. The Bianco di Mitja 2024 is born from this simple and precise idea: to give voice to a local grape, without overpowering it, letting the place and the hands of those who know it speak.
The grapes come from vineyards linked to Friulian Collio and Slovenian Brda, specifically Plessiva and Mernicco, on stony 'ponca' soils, composed of compacted sandstone and marl. In the cellar, the work remains essential: pressing the grapes, spontaneous fermentation in steel, and aging on fine lees until bottling. It is a white wine that doesn't seek disguise: Friulano, border, Collio, the Sirk family, and that clear measure that makes the wine direct, territorial, and profoundly human.

The Winery: Mitja Sirk
Mitja Sirk works in Cormòns, in the Gorizia Collio, within a family history deeply tied to hospitality and the land: that of La Subida, a place of cuisine, welcoming, and Friulian culture. His journey into wine began early, also through his relationship with Josko Gravner and experiences gained in some major European wineries, but then found a very personal direction: to focus on Friulano, the symbolic grape variety of the territory, seeking old vineyards, 'ponca' soils, and essential winemaking. In Mitja Sirk's wines, there is a contemporary yet respectful interpretation of Collio: border, family, experience, precision, and the desire to let Friuli speak without masks.
