Lessona "Pizzaguerra" 2020

The 2020 Lessona Pizzaguerra by Colombera & Garella is produced exclusively with Nebbiolo grapes from their own vineyards in the municipality of Lessona, in Alto Piemonte.

Colombera & Garella's Lessona originates in the eponymous municipality of Lessona, where the soils are composed of yellowish marine sands and are particularly acidic. This results in wines that express great minerality, and especially in the case of Giacomo and Cristiano's wines, they maintain the integrity of the Nebbiolo fruit.

The winery: Colombera & Garella

The winery's history began in 1992 in Masserano with the purchase of Cascina Cottignano, an old ruin to be renovated, surrounded by vineyards. In those years, Carlo Colombera left his job in the rice fields and, thanks to employment at Azienda Agricola Antoniolo in Gattinara, began to develop a passion for viticulture. Over time, investments were made, increasing the company's owned vineyard area. Today, the winery's frontman is Giacomo Colombera, born in 1992, who met Cristiano Garella, an oenologist, during his enology university years in Alba, and decided to formally establish the Colombera & Garella company in 2010.
Currently, the winery boasts approximately 10 hectares of vineyards, spread across the municipalities of Lessona, Masserano, and Roasio. The cultivated varieties are the historical ones of Alto Piemonte, with Nebbiolo in the foreground, flanked by Vespolina and Croatina, thus allowing for the production of two of Alto Piemonte's most important DOCs: Lessona and Bramaterra.
