Gattinara Vigna Molsino is produced in Gattinara, in the Nervi wineries, by Roberto Conterno of the Giacomo Conterno winery in Monforte d'Alba.

Since Roberto Conterno acquired the Nervi wineries in Gattinara in 2018, we have seen increasing attention to this appellation, which makes Nebbiolo grapes the main player in the formation of Gattinara DOCG. The Molsino vineyard has always played a leading role in the lineup of bottles produced by Nervi, and Roberto himself believed that this vineyard produces excellent Nebbiolo.

The Winery: Nervi Conterno

The Nervi winery is a historic winery in Gattinara, a municipality in Alto Piemonte located at the foot of the Alps and characterized by predominantly volcanic soil, the epicenter of red wine production based on Nebbiolo grapes, the main variety used to create Gattinara DOCG. The region boasts a unique microclimate, with a combination of strong temperature fluctuations, which favors grape ripening, and the altitude of the vineyards, which helps maintain acidity and freshness in the wines. The richness in iron, magnesium, and potassium due to the volcanic origin of Gattinara soils contributes to the characteristic minerality of Nebbiolo grown in this region. In 2018, the Nervi wineries were acquired by Roberto Conterno, from the Giacomo Conterno winery in Monforte d'Alba, an excellence in Barolo production in the Langhe.
