Bramaterra Cascina Cottignano is a red wine produced by the Colombera & Garella winery from Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Croatina grapes.

Nebbiolo, the leading grape variety of the Bramaterra DOC, is joined by two of Alto Piemonte's most historically and traditionally significant grapes: Vespolina and Croatina. The result is this Bramaterra, a wine that can stand proudly alongside any in terms of its aging potential.

    The winery: Colombera & Garella

The winery's story began in 1992 in Masserano with the purchase of Cascina Cottignano, an old ruin to be restored surrounded by vineyards. In those years, Carlo Colombera left his job in the rice fields and, thanks to employment at Azienda Agricola Antoniolo in Gattinara, began to develop a passion for viticulture. Over time, investments were made, increasing the vineyard area owned by the company. Today, the winery's frontman is Giacomo Colombera, born in 1992, who, during his Oenology university studies in Alba, met Cristiano Garella, an oenologist, with whom he decided to formally establish the Colombera & Garella company in 2010.
Currently, the winery boasts approximately 10 hectares of vineyards, extending across the municipalities of Lessona, Masserano, and Roasio. The cultivated varieties are the historical ones of Alto Piemonte, with Nebbiolo prominently featured, alongside Vespolina and Croatina, thus enabling the production of two of Alto Piemonte's most important DOCs: Lessona and Bramaterra.
