It all starts with a selection of grapes from the best exposures and soil and climate conditions in the various vineyards located in the Sassella subzone. Like Valtellina Superiore, it undergoes a natural vinification process but with a longer aging period, both in wooden barrels and in the bottle.

The Winery: Terrazzi Alti
The Terrazzi Alti Winery is a family business founded in 2005 in Valtellina. Siro Buzzetti cultivates Nebbiolo, locally called Chiavennasca, in owned vineyards, all part of the Sassella subzone. In this scenic landscape of terraced vineyards, altitudes vary between 400 and 600 meters, and the soils are shallow and tend to be acidic. Production is quite limited, with approximately 10,000 bottles produced annually, divided between two labels: Valtellina Superiore Terrazzi Alti Sassella and Valtellina Superiore Terrazzi Alti Sassella Riserva. Vineyard management follows organic farming principles, and in the cellar, Siro adopts a completely natural approach to winemaking, with spontaneous fermentations and total respect for the territory.
