Red Wine "Sandro" 2023

"Sandro" is the red wine produced with Nebbiolo grapes by Alberto Oggero, a particularly graceful expression of the varietal.

While the Roero region often offers more approachable and easy-drinking wines, in the best sense of the word, Alberto, with his red wine Sandro, provides an even more carefree interpretation: the sandy soil and a rather brief maceration on the skins of 5/6 days make Sandro the perfect wine to approach the world of a graceful and crisp Nebbiolo.

The Winery: Alberto Oggero

Alberto Oggero was born and raised in Roero, Santo Stefano Roero to be precise, in the courtyard and house that has also been his winery since 2009. He is not a salesman, he is not someone who pretends to be something he is not; Alberto is exactly the boy who has experienced the territory since childhood, and by helping his grandfather he learned all the lessons that today allow him to make wine like in the past, but with current knowledge. He respects the rhythm of the vineyard, he respects the times dictated by the cellar, he respects Roero, the territory that saw him born and grow as a person and as a winegrower. Precisely for this reason, Alberto cultivates and vinifies only the native grapes of Roero, Nebbiolo and Arneis, and does so by respecting both the grape variety and the plant, with a biological approach to viticulture, and by making wine in an artisanal way, without resorting to filtration or clarification or selected yeasts. All vinifications are natural, with spontaneous fermentations and aging aimed at enhancing the fruit and the terroir.
