Yseult My Love 2020

Yseult Mon Amour by Vincent Ruiz is a red wine produced in the Cote du Rhone from Syrah grapes.

This wine enhances the typical characteristics of the grape variety, which in the territories of Cornas or Saint Joseph expresses all its elegance and classic savouriness. Whole cluster fermentation in steel tanks, where it will rest for aging.

The Winery: Vincent Ruiz

Vincent Ruiz started making wine in 2019, working in parallel with Franck Balthazar. All vines are Syrah planted in 1961 at 400m altitude (Cuvée “Yseult mon amour”) and old Grenaches Noir (“Les Noces alchimie”). The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils and are certified organic. In 2022, Vincent joined forces with Franck Balthazar to take over the Dominique Belluard estate in Haute Savoie in Ayse (9.5 hectares of planted vineyard – 90% Gringet, 5% Altesse and 5% Mondeuse). Gringet is a unique grape variety in the world that only grows in Ayse (23 hectares in total). There are different types of soil (calcareous scree, white, yellow and red marl). The vines are planted on poles and wires on the slopes, they were planted between 1915 and the beginning of 1980. The vines are organic, developing agroforestry
and not tilling the soil. They are starting massal selection work with the Ayze wine consortium and the famous nurseryman Lilian Bérillon on 2 hectares of vineyards in the village of Ayse (vineyard from 1860 to 1950). This year they are producing 33 hectolitres from hectares and
only plot cuvées, making slow and delicate pressings, then aging on lees in amphorae and concrete eggs. Franck and Vincent, united from the start by passion and the same vision, are thus strengthening their relationship with this collaboration in the Rhone, a life project together in another magical French area still to be discovered.
