The Winery: Domaine des Ardoisieres

The Domaine des Ardoisieres winery is located in the Savoie wine region, France, and was founded in 1998 by a group of wine-loving friends, including Michel Grisard, a renowned Savoie wine producer. The winery takes its name from the slate mining area near the vineyard. The winery is located in a particularly challenging area for vine cultivation, due to the continental climate that alternates very hot days with cool nights. However, Domaine des Ardoisieres' vineyards are located on steep slopes at about 500 meters above sea level, meaning they benefit from the unique terroir made of clayey soils and slate from which the winery takes its name. The winemakers' care and dedication to cultivating indigenous grapes, such as Jacquère, Altesse, Mondeuse, and Pinot Noir, along with sustainable and organic farming techniques, have allowed the winery to produce wines of great personality and international recognition. Currently, the winery cultivates about 17 hectares of vineyards, divided into individual sectors to enhance the unique character of each terroir. The winery produces white, red, and rosé wines, characterized by great freshness and minerality. Domaine des Ardoisieres has become a benchmark in the Savoie wine region, thanks to its dedication to quality and the use of traditional and ecological production techniques. Its fine wines are sought after both in France and abroad and represent the true essence of the Savoie wine region.
