French Toast 2021

Pain Perdu by Claire et Florent Bejon is a Cabernet Franc of great elegance and drinkability, produced in the commune of Chinon, in the Loire Valley.

A cuvée from a 1.5-hectare plot of Cabernet Franc. Located in the commune of Beaumont en Véron, on the right bank of the Vienne, these vines are 40 years old. On this terroir, limestone outcrops at the bottom of the plots, while the tops consist of wind-blown sands.

The Winery: Claire et Florent Bejon

Claire and Florent Bejon, husband and wife, have been cultivating vines and producing wine since 2002. The project was born from a passion for wine, the land, and nature; a passion that initially occupied only a part of their lives, eventually becoming, in a very short time, a true existential reason where they put themselves to the test in every way. The appellation area is Chinon, with 5.20 hectares of vineyards divided into 4.6 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 0.60 hectares of Chenin (plus 1 additional hectare being planted). The vines and wines have always been certified organic by Ecocert, applying biodynamic principles both in the vineyard and in the cellar; this is a true philosophy they follow without compromise and regardless of the vintage.
Cover crops are sown between the rows to preserve soil structure, provide nutrients to the vines, and cover the ground. They carry out separate vinification for each grape variety and plot. In the cellar, there is no intervention and no added sulfur.
