The Winery: Flavio Roddolo
Flavio is an institution in the Langhe wine scene. The winery is located in Sant'Anna, halfway between the municipalities of Monforte d'Alba and Roddino. The vineyards are all around the winery, divided between a part that falls under the Barolo regulations in the Ravera area, and the others, across the road, which are outside: the ridge is the one that then leads towards Dogliani, the same hill that then flows into Valdibà. Flavio's wines are undoubtedly distinctive, of a specific area but also of a touch, of a sensitivity and of patience understood in oenological terms. Wines that must be waited for, both before uncorking the bottle and once poured into the glass. The cultivated grape varieties are the three main ones of Langa: Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo, and an outsider, Cabernet Sauvignon, from which the famous Bricco Appiani is born.
