Langhe Freisa 2024

Cascina Fontana's Freisa is produced in Perno, a hamlet of Monforte d'Alba.

The production of Freisa in Mario's winery is truly limited, around a thousand bottles. An ancient, territorial grape variety, now almost forgotten in the Langhe, it expresses itself with fruit and good structure.

The Winery: Cascina Fontana

Cascina Fontana is a historic family-run winery located on the Perno hill, in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. It all started six generations ago, and later grandfather Saverio understood the potential of this territory and Barolo even before the 1950s. Today, Mario Fontana continues the tradition, cultivating the typical grape varieties of the Langhe: Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. He produces classic wines, which are the pure expression of the land from which they come, the Langhe.
