Calcagno's Etna Rosso "Arcuria" is produced from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes grown on the northern slope of Etna.
Calcagno wines? Love at first sip! This Etna Rosso impressed me ever since the 2017 vintage, which I had the pleasure of tasting during a wine tasting. Arcuria is a small district of Passopisciaro, a renowned area for great Etna wines, where the Calcagno winery cultivates its Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio vines. The vines are very old, ranging from 70 to 90 years of age, and are rooted in volcanic soils, rich in lava, sand, and minerals. Arcuria is perhaps the most feminine version among Calcagno's Etna Rosso wines, with hints of undergrowth. The sip is rich, dense, textural, and incredibly fresh.
