Marino Colleoni's Brunello di Montalcino "Santa Maria" 2019 is made from Sangiovese grapes harvested on the cooler side of Montalcino, in the Santa Maria area.

Marino's Brunello is all about fruit and elegance. Enjoyable now but with great aging potential, it comes from a vineyard located on the cooler side of Montalcino, on soils rich in sand, silt, and lime. The name Marino Colleoni is undoubtedly not new to you; his wines are as personal as they are authentic expressions of Montalcino's wine scene. His Sangiovese wines speak of tradition, but also reflect Marino's somewhat rustic and austere soul, increasingly focused on the purity of his beloved local grape variety.

The Winery: Marino Colleoni Podere Sante Marie

Marino Colleoni settled in Montalcino only in 2000, the year of the company's first harvest, but his wife Luisa bought the house and land in 1989.
Only five years later, they discovered that vine branches and bunches were sprouting from the woods, which allowed them to realize what was just a dream for them: to produce wine. After preparing the land, respecting the centuries-old terraces supported by dry stone walls, they planted Sangiovese Grosso, from whose juice they obtained their first Brunello.

The company acquired other plots of land in Sant'Antimo, different in terms of area and soil type.
In recent years, they have restored another old vineyard in the Orcia Rosso area and collaborated in Maremma to make a white wine with Ansonica.
The production method is strictly organic, but the goal is to go further, and to reconstruct a natural biological diversity within the crops to make them increasingly independent of human will.

Great heart and immense wines. Marino and Luisa are an example of life: wise, kind, and with infinite potential.
They are the kind of friends everyone should have the honor of meeting in life.
