The 2015 Barolo Riserva Capalot from Walter Viberti's Santamaria winery is produced with grapes from the municipality of La Morra.
The Santamaria winery is located in the northern part of the municipality of La Morra and cultivates only the Nebbiolo grape, from which Barolo, Barolo Riserva, and Langhe Nebbiolo are produced. The vineyards are all located in the Capalot subzone, which produces wines of great elegance. Walter produces wine naturally: in the vineyard, only copper and sulfur are used, while in the cellar, fermentations take place without the aid of selected yeasts, and the wines age in steel or, in the case of Barolo, in medium-sized barrels.
The 2015 Barolo Riserva Capalot is a Barolo with great aging potential. Walter is a great interpreter of this territory, with wines easily attributable to his touch and to La Morra. Complexity, structure, freshness, and savoriness are the backbone of this Barolo Riserva, good to drink now, but excellent to wait a little longer.
