Barolo "Perno" 2021

Ca' di Press's Barolo Perno 2021 originates from the Perno hill in Monforte d'Alba.

The story of Ca' di Press is quite unique: while on the one hand we could consider this a historic winery, having been founded in the early 1900s, on the other hand we can consider it one of the most exciting new arrivals of 2022. It was precisely in this year that Alice and Cristina, aided by their parents, released their first bottled vintage. In the past, the wine was sold in bulk in demijohns, and many of the grapes that are now harvested and pressed were once supplied to local wineries. Barolo Perno is produced entirely in this subzone, and the grapes are left to ferment in stainless steel without the use of selected yeasts. After racking, the wine undergoes aging in large Slavonian oak barrels for approximately 20 months. Undoubtedly one of the finest discoveries of recent years.

The Winery: Ca' di Press

A winery formally established in the early 1900s, thus winemakers and producers for over a century. Over the years, the Pressenda family focused primarily on selling bulk wine and supplying grapes to important local wineries. Alice and Cristina, in their twenties, decided in 2018 to try and make the land of Perno and wine their profession. In 2022, the first two labels were released: Barolo del Comune di Monforte and Langhe Nebbiolo.
