Elio Sandri's 2016 Barolo "Perno" is a wine that comes from a small vineyard in Perno, Monforte d'Alba.
Elio Sandri makes his wine in his Cascina Disa, a balcony overlooking the vineyards of Perno, which face the end of the ridge that gently descends from Serralunga d'Alba towards Alba. Elio's approach to viticulture and winemaking techniques is anything but interventionist: no synthetic products are used in the vineyard, and attention is focused on product quality. Each vintage is different and must be interpreted in its own way. This Barolo originates in Perno, a small hamlet of Monforte d'Alba; in the exceptional 2016 vintage, Elio decided to allocate most of the grapes to the production of Perno Riserva, so the availability of this bottle is extremely limited.
