Cascina Fontana's Barolo del Comune di Castiglione Falletto is produced from grapes harvested in the Villero and Mariondino MGAs.
As we all know, this Barolo is only produced in vintages that Mario deems suitable for a parcel selection. In vintages like 2018, the grapes from Castiglione Falletto were blended with those from Giachini in La Morra to compose the Barolo Classico. The Barolo del Comune di Castiglione Falletto elegantly expresses the innate fruit of Nebbiolo: a fresh fruit that Mario himself protects through all stages of a delicate winemaking process, without forcing, in pursuit of maximum balance.

The Winery: Cascina Fontana
Cascina Fontana is a historic family-run winery located on the Perno hill, in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. Everything started six generations ago, and later it was grandfather Saverio who, even before the 1950s, understood the potential of this territory and of Barolo. Today, Mario Fontana continues the tradition, cultivating the typical grape varieties of the Langhe: Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. He produces classic wines that are the pure expression of the land from which they come, the Langhe.
