Cascina Fontana's Barolo del Comune di Castiglione Falletto is produced from grapes harvested in the MGA Villero and Mariondino.
As we all know, this Barolo is only produced in vintages that Mario deems suitable for a single-vineyard selection. In vintages like 2018, the grapes from Castiglione Falletto were blended with those from Giachini in La Morra to create the Barolo Classico. The Barolo del Comune di Castiglione Falletto elegantly expresses the fruit of Nebbiolo: a fresh fruit that Mario himself protects throughout all stages of a delicate winemaking process, without forcing, in pursuit of maximum balance.

The Winery: Cascina Fontana
Cascina Fontana is a historic family-run winery located on the Perno hill, in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. It all began six generations ago, and later, grandfather Saverio already understood the potential of this area and of Barolo before the 1950s. Today, Mario Fontana continues the tradition by cultivating the typical grape varieties of the Langhe: Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. He produces classic wines that are the pure expression of the land from which they come, the Langhe.
