Barolo "Capalot" 2018

Crissante Alessandria's Barolo Capalot is made from grapes harvested in the MGA Capalot, in the municipality of La Morra.

Alberto Alessandria is undoubtedly one of the rising stars of Barolo from La Morra: the Barolo Capalot comes from a vineyard composed of sandy and calcareous soils, thanks to which it opens in the glass with a nose of great elegance and finesse; during the tasting, the Nebbiolo projects hints of fresh small red fruits and mentholated notes that we then find on the palate with freshness and dynamism.

The Winery: Crissante Alessandria

The history of the Crissante Alessandria winery began in 1958 in the Roggeri hamlet, a small village in the Santa Maria area in the municipality of La Morra. Here Crissante began to vinify the family's vineyards, assisted by his wife Teresa. Over the years, new small plots were acquired in the Capalot and Galina subzones, and today the winery can count on about 6 hectares of vines; in 2007, they decided to begin separate vinification of the different MGAs, and today four different Barolo wines are produced: the Barolo from the municipality of La Morra, Barolo Galina, Barolo Capalot, and finally a Riserva with grapes also harvested in the municipality of La Morra. I personally mostly met Alberto, born in 1985, the driving force of the company, who, with precise ideas, seeks elegant wines that are great expressions of the fruit.
