Barolo "Boscareto" 2019

Boscareto by Ferdinando Principiano is a Barolo produced from grapes grown in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba.

Barolo Boscareto is undoubtedly Principiano's flagship wine: the grapes destined for the production of this wine must be perfect, and the vintage must have been well-balanced. After harvesting, the grapes are foot-trodden whole cluster in steel tanks, with temperature control around 28 degrees during fermentation. After malolactic fermentation in steel, the wine is transferred to large Slavonian oak barrels, where it rests for 24 months. Only after the aging period will Ferdinando decide whether to allocate this wine to the production of Barolo Boscareto or, if it does not meet the quality standards, it will be blended with the Barolo from the municipality of Serralunga.

The Winery: Ferdinando Principiano

The Ferdinando Principiano winery is located in Monforte d'Alba. The company's approach to its production philosophy is entirely natural, with spontaneous fermentations always occurring in steel. Ferdinando makes craftsmanship his strong point, as well as manual labor, terroir, and sincerity in personal relationships, which is reflected in his wines. The vineyards that give rise to the Nebbiolo-based wines are divided between the municipalities of Monforte d'Alba and Serralunga d'Alba: all beautiful exposures, soils ranging from clayey to calcareous, where the sandy percentage often plays a fundamental role.
