Barbera d'Alba Superiore "Donna Elena" 2021

Cascina delle Rose's Barbera d'Alba Superiore "Donna Elena", I admit, is one of my favourites.

Don't let my tastes influence you, though; they may not be similar to yours (although I challenge anyone to say that this Barbera is not one of the best you can drink in Langa). We are in Tre Stelle, in the municipality of Barbaresco. The vineyard is located right in this valley near the winery, on very poor soils rich in mineral salts. During the harvest, the grapes are carefully selected and once brought to the winery, they ferment in steel tanks. The aging process is long, about 20 months, in large Slavonian oak barrels. Structure and acidity are perfectly balanced, and the persistence is infinite. This Barbera is fruit, spice, it vibrates in the mouth. Well done, Davide and Riccardo!
