Elvio Cogno's Barbera d'Alba Pre-Phylloxera is the result of selecting the best grapes from a vineyard planted in La Morra before 1900.
The name pre-phylloxera suggests that the cultivation of this vineyard began before 1900, before the arrival of phylloxera in Piedmont. Yields are very low, and the resulting Barbera is complex and capable of long aging. Fermentation takes place in steel while aging is for one year in large oak barrels.
