Barbaresco "Rocche Massalupo" 2017

Manuel Marinacci's Barbaresco is produced with Nebbiolo grapes from the Rocche Massalupo vineyard, in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio.

We are in one of the most beautiful places in the Langhe: San Rocco Seno d'Elvio. The road gently ascends from Alba towards Treiso and Barbaresco, and overlooking these splendid hills is the Manuel Marinacci winery, where he cultivates his Nebbiolo vineyards around his home for the production of this Barbaresco in the MGA Rocche Massalupo. Manuel does not want stylistic labels; he considers himself a wine artisan and puts all his passion and love for wine into his work. Spontaneous fermentations all take place in concrete with indigenous yeasts, while aging proceeds in large barrels for 36 months.

The Winery: Manuel Marinacci

Manuel Marinacci's winery is a young business, established only in 2002. The winery, like the vineyards, are all located in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, a hamlet of Alba. As Manuel himself admits, his growth as a producer has come through errors and imperfect wines, while today he has achieved greater awareness that allows him to practice clean agriculture and be as non-interventionist as possible during vinification. Today the company produces about 18,000 bottles, including a Dolcetto d'Alba, a Barbera d'Alba, a Nebbiolo, and a Barbaresco, which only from the 2017 vintage has borne the name of the MGA of origin, Rocche Massalupo, on its label.
