Barbaresco "Montestefano" 2022 Magnum

Serafino Rivella's Barbaresco "Montestefano" 2021 is produced in Barbaresco from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the MGA Montestefano.

Teobaldo Rivella is undoubtedly one of the greatest wine artisans in the Langhe; aided by his ever-present wife Maria, they divide their time between the vineyard and the cellar in one of Barbaresco's most beautiful landscapes: the Montestefano hill. Teobaldo seeks a pure and authentic expression of this terroir, where the soil composed of bluish marl gives the wine great elegance but at the same time a significant structure. The winemaking is artisanal, with the use of indigenous yeasts and a 30-month refinement in large oak barrels. Teobaldo's wines are genuine, delicious, and, alas, increasingly difficult to find on the market.

The Winery: Serafino Rivella

The Serafino Rivella winery is run by his son Teobaldo, who in 1967 began bottling his first bottles of Barbaresco Montestefano. Total production is just over ten thousand bottles, divided between Barbaresco and Langhe Nebbiolo. Teobaldo has always made wine in an artisanal way, far from enological schemes and manipulations during winemaking, understanding from the very beginning that the vineyard plays the leading role in the production of great wines. Over the years, Teobaldo and Maria Rivella have remained firmly anchored to traditions, preferring artisanal winemaking with the utmost respect for the Nebbiolo grape, which is never denatured of its soul during cellar work and aging.
