Champagne Extra Brut "Ephemere 018" Grand Cru 2018

The Extra Brut "Ephemere 018" Grand Cru 2018 Champagne is the result of a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from Grand Cru classified vineyards in Montagne de Reims and Cote des Blancs.

In recent years we have been seeing these releases from Savart, and it is worth noting that the "Ephemere" line is born from the collaboration between Frédéric and Domaine Dremont Père et Fils, another producer with a winery in Sillery. Together, they have selected beautiful plots located in various municipalities of the Montagne de Reims and Cote des Blancs, all exclusively classified as Grand Crus. Ephemere 018 is a vintage from the 2018 harvest, and is made from a blend of 74% Chardonnay grapes, harvested in the municipalities of Cramant, Avize, and Oger, and 26% Pinot Noir from the vineyards in Bouzy and Ambonnay.

The Winery: Frédéric Savart

Frédéric Savart cultivates eight hectares of vineyards planted almost exclusively with Pinot Noir in the Montagne de Reims: three hectares in Ecueil, and one in Villiers-aux-Noeuds. The domaine was founded by his grandfather Renè, then passed into the hands of his father Daniel in 1970. Production was very limited until the 1980s, and only recently has Frédéric had a little more availability. Frédéric's idea is very simple and starts entirely from the vineyard, where he works personally and dedicates all his energy, believing that only from extremely high-quality grapes can exciting Champagnes be born.
