Domenico understood from a young age how the acidic sandy variety of the Roero soils of Montà could give him unique Arneis wines, characterized by fascinating savouriness, elegance, and personality. All the vineyards are personally cultivated by Domenico and his sons Stefano and Federico; the 18 hectares of property are all within the municipality of Montà d’Alba, but thanks to the differences in the formation of the Roero soils, they can boast entirely different characteristics:

The northern soils, at an altitude of approximately 320-350 meters, are composed of sands of marine origin mixed with more recent alluvial deposits, and are often interspersed with clay veins rich in mineral salts, which is why they are destined for the cultivation of white grape varieties, mainly Arneis and a small part of Riesling;

The southern soils, at an altitude of approximately 250-320 meters, have an older sandy formation. They are of marine origin, with many species of fossil molluscs. These soils, richer in mineral elements, are ideal for fruity, delicate, and saline red wines. He is not a salesman, he is not someone who pretends to be something he is not; Alberto is exactly the boy who has experienced the territory since childhood, and by helping his grandfather he learned all the lessons that today allow him to make wine like in the past, but with current knowledge. He respects the rhythm of the vineyard, he respects the times dictated by the cellar, he respects Roero, the territory that saw him born and grow as a person and as a winegrower. Precisely for this reason, Alberto cultivates and vinifies only the native grapes of Roero, Nebbiolo and Arneis, and does so by respecting both the grape variety and the plant, with a biological approach to viticulture, and by making wine in an artisanal way, without resorting to filtration or clarification or selected yeasts. The result is a white wine of sensational territoriality, where hints of yellow fruit and honey give way to the great savory character of Roero. Roero Le Coste is undoubtedly terroir, it is Roero.

Denomination:

Roero Rosso DOCG

Grape Varieties:

Nebbiolo 100%

Alcohol Content:

14.50%

Vineyards:

about 30 years old, planted on sandy-clay soil at 320 meters above sea level

Vinification:

spontaneous fermentation in steel and 10 months aging in tonneaux

Serving Temperature:

16-18°C

The Winery: Alberto Oggero

Alberto Oggero was born and raised in Roero, in Santo Stefano Roero to be exact, in the courtyard and house that has also been his winery since 2009. He is not a salesman, he is not one to pretend to be something he is not; Alberto is exactly that guy who, since childhood, has experienced the territory, and by helping his grandfather, learned all those lessons that today allow him to make wine as it once was, but with current knowledge. He respects the rhythm of the vineyard, he respects the timings dictated by the cellar, he respects Roero, the land that saw him born and grow as a person and as a winemaker. Precisely for this reason, Alberto cultivates and vinifies only the native grapes of Roero, Nebbiolo and Arneis, and he does so by respecting both the grape variety and the plant, with an organic approach to viticulture, and by vinifying in an artisanal way, without resorting to filtration or fining, nor to selected yeasts. All vinifications are natural, with spontaneous fermentations and aging aimed at enhancing the fruit and the terroir.

Casa Tallone's "Grandi*Nato" 2021 Rosé Wine is made from Nebbiolo and Arneis grapes.

The Sacchetto brothers' intention was not to produce a rosé wine, and I think the choice to call it Grandinato (Hailstormed) and turn the logo upside down is proof of that. The fruit of their labor in the Nebbiolo vineyard, from which they would have harvested the grapes for the production of the first vintage of Roero DOCG, was practically wiped out by the hailstorm on July 13th. The surviving grapes barely filled 24 crates, which, vinified together with Arneis, resulted in this rosé wine. In total, the time spent in wood is just under a year.

Denomination:

Roero Rosso DOCG

Grape varieties:

Nebbiolo 100%

Alcohol content:

12.70%

Vineyards:

planted on sandy soil in Monteu Roero

Vinification:

Fermentation in wood and 1 year of aging in wood

Serving temperature:

14-16°C

The winery: Manuele Priolo

I seriously think Manuele Priolo's project is one of the most beautiful born in recent years. All the vineyards are cultivated personally by Domenico and his sons Stefano and Federico; the 18 hectares of property are all within the municipality of Montà d'Alba, but thanks to the differences in the formation of the Roero soils, they boast entirely different characteristics:

The northern soils, at an altitude of approximately 320-350 meters, are composed of marine sands mixed with more recent fluvial deposits, and are often interspersed with clay veins rich in mineral salts, which is why they are destined for the cultivation of white grape varieties, mainly Arneis and a small part of Riesling;

The southern soils, at an altitude of approximately 250-320 meters, have an older sandy formation. They are of marine origin, with many species of fossil mollusks. These soils, richer in mineral elements, are ideal for fruity, delicate, and saline reds. When this matrix blends with silty soil, richer in clay and more calcareous (which originated from deeper and older marine bedrock), the ideal pedological conditions are created for structured red wines, such as Nebbiolo.

The cellar was completely renovated in 2015 and today combines technology and tradition: after the entirely manual grape harvest, the baskets are kept in a temperature-controlled room, followed by a light pressing.
